The seven-step loop
Read the brief
Customer measurements, tastes, budget, and the event they're dressing for.
Sketch the design
Lock silhouette and palette in the sketchbook; add fabric samples and appliqué to preview the vision.
Choose fabric
Cotton, linen, wool, silk, velvet and beyond — weight and drape change how the dress moves.
Lay the pattern
Align pieces with the grain or cut on the bias. Placement of prints on the panel is where they land on the dress.
Cut
Follow the alignment arrows — precision here echoes through every later step.
Sew
Feed panels through the machine with a steady hand. See the sewing machine guide.
Decorate & deliver
Buttons, bows, lace, appliqué — then deliver, or hang it in the shop window for off-rack sales.
Grain, bias & print placement
This is the game's quiet genius: layout is a spatial puzzle, not a cosmetic choice. A stripe matched across seams reads as couture; a floral placed carelessly lands on the hip. The community's best dresses — a Starry Night gown, a Mona Lisa mini — were all built on this system, bead and panel at a time.
Difficulty & the sewing problem
There are no time limits and no fail states — the pressure is your own perfectionism. The honest friction points players report: mouse precision in sewing and decorating, occasional fiddly accessory placement, and an opaque scoring model the devs are addressing in patches.
How long it takes
About 35 hours of story commissions by the developer's estimate. Designers who agonize over every panel report far more — one dress can eat an evening happily.
After the story
The shop stays yours: freeform designs, off-rack sales, and chasing the community's standards. An online challenge mode with design voting, transparent fabrics, better controller support, and mobile/Switch ports are on the roadmap — see the platform status.
